From the brink of elimination, Pakistan have qualified for the semi-finals of this T20 World Cup, making this their sixth appearance which is the most by any team. Yesterday Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by five wickets and qualified for the semi-finals. Before this game, the Netherlands created one of the tournament’s biggest upsets by beating South Africa.

After this game, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan took a dig at Pakistan through his tweet. In his tweet, he wrote, Padosiyon ke Twitter accounts sirf SUNDAY ke naam pe zinda hai. Love it. [Twitter accounts in the neighbourhood seem to be active on Sundays].”

For this tweet, Irfan Pathan created a buzz and was heavily criticised by the fans. Let’s look at some of the reactions concerning this tweet:

Pakistan to square off against New Zealand in semi-finals

South Africa’s loss to the Netherlands made the equation simple for Pakistan to qualify, as they had to defeat Bangladesh to qualify for the last four stage. One of the architects for the Netherlands was Brandon Glover, who picked up three wickets in the game. His scalps included Rilee Rossouw, David Miller and Wayne Parnell.

Miller’s wicket was the turning point in the game, and a magnificent catch was taken by former Protea Roelof van der Merwe to send him back to the pavilion. There were several questions raised before the tournament about Pakistan regarding their middle order, but they seemed to have answered them and are looking for a lethal team.

Pakistan will face New Zealand in the first semi-final at Sydney on 9th November, and on the 10th, India is scheduled to take on the three lions, England, at the Adelaide Oval. The final will take place on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
