The One-day International series between England and Australia got underway with the first of the three matches on Thursday, November 17 at the Adelaide Oval. The Australian pacers Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc got their team off to a great start, sending both the England openers back into the hut. Starc bowled a beauty to rattle Jason Roy’s stumps, which left the fans and the experts impressed.
Australian skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl first. England batters Philip Salt and Jason Roy started off the proceedings. However, they could not make much of an impact. Cummins dismissed Salt for 14 runs off 15 deliveries in the fourth over. The visitors were struck with another blow a couple of overs later, with Mitchell Starc dismissing Jason Roy.
In the fifth over, Mitchell Starc bowled a lovely inswinger, which pitched on a good length. Roy was caught in two minds, whether to go forwards or stay back in his crease. He tried to push the delivery with hard hands, but the ball sneaked past the inside edge. It also kept a bit low to rattle Jason Roy’s stumps. The England opener managed just six runs from eleven deliveries.
