New Zealand vs India 2022: 3 Indian Players To Watch Out For
Kane Williamson and Hardik Pandya pose with the trophy

Team India will take on New Zealand in a three-match T20I series, starting on November 18, 2022. It promises to be an exciting series with Hardik Pandya taking the charge as the visitors will be without their star players including KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma.

India will be looking for young players to showcase their skills against a decent New Zealand side in their home den. The bowling department also looks less on experience and would be looking to make a mark on good batting pitches on New Zealand soil.

Selectors gave a chance to those players who performed well in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament.

On that note, we look at the 3 Indian players to look out for in the New Zealand series.

#1 Shubman Gill

The explosive right-handed opener from Punjab, Shubman Gill had a decent outing in the 2022 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament. He featured in 6 matches for Punjab with 260 runs at a strike rate of 156.62. Gill registered a match-winning performance of 126 off 55 balls with 11 fours and nine sixes against Karanakta in the quarter-finals leading Punjab to a massive total.

It was a remarkable knock by Gill who started slowly before taking on Karnataka bowlers. He would get an opportunity to open the innings for India in the T20I series as KL Rahul, and Rohit Sharma is not a part of the T20I squad.

Shubman Gill would be looking to make a mark against a decent bowling attack and hope to give Team India flying starts.

#2 Umran Malik

The express fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir will be making a comeback into the Indian T20I squad. His ability to trouble the batters with express pace makes him a dangerous bowler to face.

Umran Malik made his India T20I debut in the series against Ireland on June 26, 2022. He played three matches picking up only two wickets. He conceded runs but defended 17 runs in the final over during the second T20I match played on June 28 at Malahide, Dublin.

Umran would be looking to make a mark against a decent New Zealand batting order. The pace express created fear among the opponent batter during the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022 tournament. Malik might get a chance in playing XI with Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Arshdeep Singh in the squad.

#3 Kuldeep Yadav

The left-arm leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav will be making a comeback into India’s T20I squad. He made his last appearance for the Indian team against West Indies at Lauderhill on August 7, 2022.

With Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal as spin bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav might get a chance against the New Zealand team in the T20I series. The wrist spinner would be looking to create an impact on the game if given a chance.

Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal created an impact on the opposition batters in tandem. Kuldeep would be a handful against the New Zealand team gaining his confidence back on good batting pitches.
