The Border Gavaskar Trophy is all set to kick off on Thursday, February 9 with the first Test at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. The series consists of four tests, with the Delhi, Dharmashala, and Ahmedabad hosting the remaining three. The Border Gavaskar Trophy has a long history, with the series first being played in 1996.

The upcoming contest is expected to be an intense battle between the two teams. The series will witness some of the bests in world cricket take the field. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, R Ashwin, Nathan Lyon, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and others will be looking to make an impact for their side.

Let’s take a look at the records that can be broken during the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023:

#2000 Test runs against Australia by Cheteshwar Pujara

Team India batter Cheteshwar Pujara has had a stunning record against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy over the last few years. He will be keen to go past the 2000 runs against Australia landmark in the upcoming series. In 20 Tests, Pujara has scored 1893 runs at an average of 54.08. He needs 107 runs more to become the fourth Indian batter to score 2000 Test runs against Australia. Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, and Rahul Dravid are the three Indians who have achieved this feat previously.

#Virat Kohli eyes 25000 International runs landmark and 4000 Test runs at home

Veteran India batter Virat Kohli is on the verge of completing 25,000 runs in International cricket. He has been one of India’s batting pillars in the last decade. The right-handed batter has scored 8119 Test runs, 12809 runs in ODI, and 4008 runs in T20Is. He is just 64 runs away from achieving the 25000 runs landmark in International cricket. He will become the sixth player and the second Indian to get to the feat.

The former Indian skipper will also be looking to reach the 4000 Test runs at the home landmark. He has scored 3847 runs at an average of 61.06, with thirteen centuries. Virat Kohli will become the batter to achieve this feat after Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, and Virender Sehwag.
