Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill powered the franchise to the final of the 2023 Indian Premier League with yet another century. He smashed his third century of the season on Sunday, May 26 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad against the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 of the tournament.
The Gujarat Titans managed a mammoth score of 233 runs in the first innings. In response, they bowled out the Mumbai Indians for 171 runs to secure a 62-run win in the match. Shubman Gill won the Player of the Match award for his outstanding knock. He has broke several records this season, and the continued the same in the knock-out game.

– Shubhman Gill now ranks third on the list of most runs in an Indian Premier League season. He has scored 851 runs in sixteen matches so far, at an average of 60.79 and a strike rate of 156.43. Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler rank ahead of him in the list with 973 (2016) and 863 (2022) respectively.
– Shubman Gill got to the three-figure in just 49 deliveries against the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 in the 2023 Indian Premier League. His century is now the joint-fastest century in an IPL playoff game. The opener shares the record with Rajat Patidar and Wriddhiman Saha, who also took 49 balls to get to their respective centuries.
– The Gujarat Titans opener notched up the highest-ever individual score in an Indian Premier League playoff match. His 129 runs-knock surpassed Virender Sehwag’s 122 runs against CSK in IPL 2014. Incidentally, Sehwag’s century also came in Qualifier 2 match of that season.
– Shubman Gill slammed ten sixes during his terrific knock against the Mumbai Indians. He broke the record for most sixes in an IPL playoff innings. Virender Sehwag smashed eight sixes during his century in 2014 against Chennai Super Kings.
– The swashbuckling cricketer also broke his own record of the highest individual score for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. He slammed an unbeaten 104-run knock this season, which was the highest till he himself broke it against Mumbai Indians.
