In what was their first-ever season in which they failed to make the playoffs, they placed second last in 2020. The following year, they came back strong and won the championship.
They failed to defend it in 2022, leading to yet another forgettable season in which they came in ninth place on the leaderboard. The Lions rallied once more to reach their tenth IPL championship game this season.
Even though CSK made a fantastic comeback, there is growing discontent among the team’s supporters that suggests something is wrong with the franchise overall.

Fans have gone into overdrive after a previously unreleased video of Ravindra Jadeja after his altercation with MS Dhoni surfaced on Twitter.
Images of Jadeja and Dhoni’s tense exchange from Chennai’s final league match against Delhi Capitals were widely shared on social media earlier last week.
CSK supporters could only talk about that video despite their team winning by 77 runs, securing a top-two finish. Moments after the game was over, Dhoni was seen irate at Jadeja for remaining silent the entire time.
A day later, Jadeja had sent a mysterious tweet about “Karma,” and a few hours later, his wife had retweeted it with a four-word response that furthered the intrigue.
Recently, a video from Chennai’s IPL 2023 playoff match against Gujarat Titans at home has surfaced on Twitter, in which Jadeja can be seen joking around with CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan just moments after the team’s 15-run victory at Chepauk.
Additionally, Jadeja’s future in the franchise has CSK fans concerned after watching the video.
The all-around player later shared a photo of himself holding the trophy on Twitter with the caption, “Upstox knows but. Some fans don’t, however. It was directed at the spectators who had repeatedly booed Dhoni despite his match-winning performances.
