IPL 2023: “The Auction Will Be There” – MS Dhoni On Retirement Talks

Finally, MS Dhoni has addressed the question of whether or not he intends to retire right after the IPL 2023. He was very clear when he said, he wouldn’t decide on his playing career immediately following the IPL.

A direct question was posed to Dhoni by renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle after the captain led his team. The Chennai Super Kings made a record for the 10th IPL championship with a victory over the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 in Chennai on Tuesday.

MS Dhoni led CSK to the record 10th IPL final on Tuesday

In reference to CSK’s final home game of the season, It will be played on Sunday in Ahmedabad. Dhoni was asked if he would return to play in Chepauk. Dhoni didn’t directly respond, but he made it very clear that he wouldn’t make a career decision the moment the IPL came to an end.

“I’m not sure. I have either eight or nine months to make a choice. I have plenty of time to make a decision, and the small auction will probably take place around December. Whether I’m on the field or outside, I’ll always be there for CSK,” MS Dhoni said during the post-game awards ceremony.

“To be honest, it’s very taxing. I’ve been physically unfit for four months now. I finished my work on January 31 and began preparing for my March 2–3 practice session. Despite the length, I have plenty of time to make my choice,” he again shared.

On a slow surface, Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Giants by 15 runs to advance to their 10th IPL final. CSK continued the tournament’s remarkable streak of consistency. After Hardik Pandya decided to bowl in Qualifier 1, CSK did well to score 172 for 7 on a slow pitch.

It turned out to be much higher than a competitive total. Given the circumstances, Gujarat Titans had a rare off day and were dismissed for 157 in 20 overs. With a 16-ball 30 near the end, Rashid Khan unnerved the CSK supporters. But it wasn’t enough to help the Titans.

But in Qualifier 2 on Friday, the defending champions will have another opportunity to reach a second straight final. CSK’s master tactician MS Dhoni made the best use of the home-field advantage to advance the four-time champions to their tenth final in 14 tournaments. The 2016 and 2017 editions were missed by CSK.
