Former cricketer Virender Sehwag was all praise for Mahendra Singh Dhoni after the Chennai Super Kings sailed through to the final of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). They defeated the Gujarat Titans by 15 runs in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday, May 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to book a direct place in the final.
The Chennai Super Kings put on 172 runs on the board batting first on the back of Ruturaj Gaikwad’s fifty. In response, the Gujarat Titans were bowled out for 157 runs. as the Chennai Super Kings bowlers pulled off a brilliant performance. Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana and Ravindra Jadeja took a couple of wickets each.
Following Chennai Super Kings’ win, Virender Sehwag took to social media to praise the team and their skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He wrote,
“Chennai Superkings. What a wonderful team. Leadership is about getting the best out of your resources and with the bowling lineup Chennai had, only MS Dhoni could have taken them into the finals. That is why he is who he is and receives the love that he does.”

I have ample time to decide: Mahendra Singh Dhoni on his retirement from IPL
Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni isn’t thinking about his retirement from the Indian Premier League. There have been speculations about the ongoing season being the wicket-keeper’s last. However, MS Dhoni expressed that he has ample time after the 2023 season ends to decide about his future.
“I don’t know. I have 8-9 months to decide. The small auction will be around December. So why take that headache right now? I have ample time to decide. But, I will always be there for CSK whether it’s in the playing form or sitting somewhere outside,” said Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The Chennai Super Kings have reached the IPL final for the 10th time in the history of the tournament. They will play the final against the winner of Qualifier 2 on Sunday, May 28 in Ahmedabad.
