Veteran England batter Tammy Beaumont became the first batter in Women’s Hundred history to score a century. She achieved this milestone for Welsh Fire against Trent Rockets played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on 14th August 2023.
Welsh Fire Captain Tammy Beaumont won the toss and decided to bat first. Beaumont looked in sublime touch right from word go putting enough pressure on Trent Rockets’ bowling. Sophia Dunkley and Beaumont put on 81 runs for the opening wicket laying a strong foundation for a big total.
Beaumont reached fifty off 25 deliveries and kept the scoreboard ticking. She toyed with Trent Rockets bowling line up hitting boundaries at will. It was a remarkable performance by Welsh Fire Captain Beaumont to complete a century off 52 balls. She remained not out on 118 off 61 balls with 20 fours and 2 sixes with a strike rate of 193.44.
Her knock helped Welsh Fire post a competitive total of 181 for 3 off 100 balls. Beaumont looked in brilliant touch not allowing the Trent Rockets bowlers to settle and make the batting look easy.
