Kane Williamson, and Tim Southee to play their fourth World Cup
Kane Williamson is returning to the side after battling a knee injury that he suffered during the IPL 2023 season. This will be the fourth World Cup for him and Tim Southee. Meanwhile, the likes of Rachin Ravindra, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips and Will Young will be playing for the first time in a 50-over World Cup event.
“From Kane and Tim heading to their fourth tournament to the guys selected for the first time, it’s always a very exciting time. There have been some tough calls and there will be some disappointed players,” head coach Gary Stead said. “The key for us was finding the right balance for the squad and making sure we had our bases covered for what is going to be a very competitive tournament.”
