Virat Kohli walked out to bat at Number 3 for India, after a remarkable century opening stand by Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. He partnered with KL Rahul to take on the charge. However, there were several rain interruptions and the match was also forced to go to the reserve day, it did not dent the duo’s focus. They got India past 300 runs in the forty-sixth over and then accelerated the innings.
In the forty-eighth over, Virat Kohli got to the three-figure mark with a single. He brought up his 47th ODI century with the runs. On the previous delivery, he completed 13000 runs in ODI cricket, becoming the fastest player to achieve this feat. He broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar, who got to 13000 runs in 321 innings, while Kohli took 267 innings to achieve the feat.

Virat Kohli finished the innings with 122 runs off 94 deliveries including nine boundaries and three sixes. Meanwhile, KL Rahul slammed twelve boundaries and two sixes to score 111 runs off 106 deliveries. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill also slammed fifties opening the batting. India put on 356 runs in the first innings.
