ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: [WATCH] Shakib Al Hasan Removes Jonny Bairstow With A Stunning Delivery

In the 2023 World Cup match on Tuesday, October 10, Bangladesh’s captain Shakib Al Hasan set the example by taking a leading role against England at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. He played a pivotal role in the game, breaking the 115-run opening partnership by removing Jonny Bairstow with his left-arm spin.

The crucial wicket fell during the 18th over when Shakib bowled a quicker delivery with a slightly shorter length. Bairstow attempted a flick, but the ball’s pace surprised him, sneaking past the inside edge to strike the leg stump. As a result, the zing bails lit up when the stumps were dislodged.

Bairstow left the crease after scoring 52 runs from 59 deliveries, which included eight boundaries. Notably, he reached his half-century after five innings. It’s interesting to note that he was also dismissed by a left-arm spinner in his previous match.

Bangladesh chooses to field first in their World Cup match against England

In the World Cup match on Tuesday, Bangladesh’s captain Shakib Al Hasan won the coin toss and decided to bowl first against England. They introduced one alteration, with Mahmudullah stepping in for Mahedi Hasan.

During the toss, Shakib stated: “We will field first. Little cooler than the other day and hopefully our pacers can get something out of the surface. We have one change. The way we fielded, we did not get the start we wanted but the way we believed was a pleasing side. We want to do the same thing but it is a different game and different mindset, but we want to be as calm as possible.”

On the other hand, England made a single alteration in their lineup, with Reece Topley taking the place of Moeen Ali. For those who might not be aware, Bangladesh entered the match with a recent victory over Afghanistan by six wickets. In contrast, England faced a defeat in their opening game against New Zealand, losing by nine wickets.
