Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan has been named in the national team squad for the upcoming second Test against England in Visakhapatnam. This opportunity arose as KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja faced injury setbacks, leading to their exclusion from the squad. Sarfaraz, who has been in outstanding form in domestic cricket, received positive reactions from fans on social media following the announcement.
In response to his Test call-up, Sarfaraz shared a post from his Mumbai teammate, Suryakumar Yadav, on social media. Yadav’s message, “Maiden India call. Utsav ki taiyaarrii karo (get ready for celebration),” captured the excitement surrounding Sarfaraz’s inclusion. Additionally, Sarfaraz posted a heartfelt picture with his father on his Instagram story, reflecting the emotional significance of this achievement.

The injury concerns for India involve Jadeja, who suffered a hamstring injury while attempting a quick single, and Rahul, who complained of pain in his right quadriceps. Rahul had previously undergone surgery for a right thigh injury sustained during the IPL in May the previous year, resulting in a four-month absence from the game.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) addressed the situation, stating, “Mr Ravindra Jadeja and Mr KL Rahul have been ruled out of the second IDFC First Bank Test against England in Vizag, starting February 02, 2024.”
The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring the progress of both players. To fill the void left by the injured players, the selection committee has added Sarfaraz Khan, left-arm spinner Sourabh Kumar, and all-rounder Washington Sundar to the squad for the second Test.
Sarfaraz’s inclusion in the national team marks a significant milestone in his career, following consistent performances in domestic cricket and a notable showing in the India A series against England Lions.
The updated Indian squad for the second Test includes players such as Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, and others, forming a formidable lineup for the crucial match against England.
