Team India skipper Rohit Sharma showcased his batting prowess during the fifth Test against England at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium in Dharamsala. He slammed a century, helping India to get the first-innings lead comfortably in the match. India has already sealed the series 3-1.
Rohit Sharma opened the innings along with Yashasvi Jaiswal. The duo got the team off to a great start. They added 104 runs for the opening stand. After Jaiswal’s dismissal, Rohit partnered with Shubman Gill to take the innings forward, scoring 171 runs together. The Indian skipper brought up his century in the fifty-ninth over.
Rohit flicked a ball through deep mid-wicket off Tom Hartlety for a single. He raised his bat to his teammates to celebrate the landmark. He managed 103 runs with thirteen boundaries and three sixes in the innings. Rohit was bowled by England skipper Ben Stokes post the lunch session on the second day.

– Rohit Sharma has been one of India’s top performers in the World Test Championship history. He has scored nine centuries in the championship, going past Babar Azam. Rohit hasĀ equalled Steve Smith’s tally and is joint-fourth on the list.
– The Indian captain has also overtaken Chris Gayle in the list of Most International centuries as an opener. He has 43 centuries to his name, while Gayle has scored 43.
– Rohit Sharma equalled Sunil Gavaskar’s record for scoring the most Test tons as an India opener against England. Both the Mumbai cricketers have 4 centuries each.
