In the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) held at Wankhede Stadium on April 14th, Rohit Sharma, the former MI captain, showcased an outstanding performance with the bat. Scoring an unbeaten 105 runs off 63 balls, Rohit’s innings comprised five sixes and 11 boundaries.
His century was sealed with a boundary off Matheesha Pathirana’s delivery in the 20th over, a shot that epitomized his skill and precision. Despite Rohit’s remarkable effort, MI faced a setback as they succumbed to a 20-run defeat against CSK. Throughout the chase of 207 runs, Rohit lacked support from his teammates as wickets continued to fall at the other end.
Despite contributions from Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan, and Tim David, it wasn’t enough to secure victory. Pathirana was the standout bowler for CSK, claiming four crucial wickets, while Tushar Deshpande and Mustafizur Rahman took one wicket each.
Here’s how fans reacted to Rohit Sharma’s century:

In the first innings, CSK posted a challenging total of 206/4 after being asked to bat. Ruturaj Gaikwad played a pivotal role, scoring 69 runs off 40 balls, supported by Shivam Dube’s unbeaten 66 off 38 deliveries. MS Dhoni’s late cameo of 20 runs off just four balls propelled CSK past the 200-run mark. Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell also made useful contributions with the bat.
MI’s bowling effort was led by Hardik Pandya, who claimed two wickets, while Shreyas Gopal and Gerald Coetzee picked up one wicket each. Despite their efforts, CSK emerged victorious. Looking ahead, MI is scheduled to face Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Mullanpur on April 18th, while CSK, led by Gaikwad, will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 19th.
