BCCI Permits Player Families At 2025 Champions Trophy With Conditions: Reports

For the 2025 Champions Trophy, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is expected to ease restrictions on players’ family members accompanying them in Dubai, as per a report by Dainik Jagran (via Times Now).

This rule was initially implemented following India’s 3-1 loss to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25, based on strict guidelines set by the BCCI. Under the current policy, families are not permitted to stay with players for an entire tour and can only join them for a few weeks if the series exceeds 45 days.

If India reaches the 2025 Champions Trophy final, the team will spend 25 days in Dubai, arriving on February 15. According to the report, the BCCI will now permit players’ wives and parents to join them in Dubai, but with a strict condition: they can only attend one match.

The relaxation in the rules came after a senior team management member discussed the matter with the board secretary. Given that the Champions Trophy is a short tournament, the BCCI ultimately decided to allow families to visit players in the UAE for just one match.

Players will have the option to choose which match their family members or partners can attend, after which the team management will submit a list for approval.

India is set to play all their 2025 Champions Trophy games in Dubai

India will kick off their 2025 Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. All their matches will be held at this venue under the hybrid model after they opted not to travel to Pakistan.

The highly anticipated clash with their arch-rivals is set for February 23, followed by a match against New Zealand on March 2. If India advances to the knock-out stages, they will play the first semi-final in Dubai.

In the event that India reaches the final, the title match, originally scheduled for Lahore on March 9, will be moved to Dubai. In the 2017 Champions Trophy, India finished as runners-up after losing to Pakistan in the final.
