IPL 2025: KKR vs LSG Match On April 6 Moved From Kolkata To Guwahati Over Security Concerns

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will no longer play their fifth home match of the season against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Kolkata due to security concerns. Instead, the fixture has been relocated to the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

With April 6 coinciding with the celebration of Ram Navami, police officials informed the Cricket Association of Bengal about their inability to provide adequate security for the match. According to PTI, CAB President Snehashish Ganguly commented on the situation.

“We have informed the BCCI to reschedule the match, but there is no scope for rescheduling the game in the city later and I’m now hearing that it’s going to be shifted to Guwahati”

This marks the second time a match at Eden Gardens has been rescheduled due to security concerns. Last year, the fixture between KKR and Rajasthan Royals had to be postponed for similar reasons. This season, the Knight Riders are set to face RR at the same venue on March 26.

Rajasthan Royals will also play their first two home matches of IPL 2025 in Guwahati

The Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati will also serve as a venue for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025. Since 2023, the stadium has been the Royals’ second home, with the team having played four matches there.

This season, RR are set to play two more games at the venue, facing Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday, March 26, and Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, March 30. So far, they have recorded one win, two losses, and one match abandoned due to rain at this ground.

Rajasthan Royals will kick off their much-awaited IPL 2025 campaign against SunRisers Hyderabad on Sunday, April 23, at the iconic Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, aiming for a strong start to the season.
