Indian and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting star Virat Kohli was recently spotted discussing batting with Australian pacer and teammate Josh Hazlewood. Kohli has been with RCB since the IPL’s inception in 2008. Hazlewood, who joined the franchise in the 2022 mega auction, had an impressive debut season, taking 20 wickets in 12 matches.
However, injuries limited his participation the following year, where he played just three games and took three wickets. He missed the entire 2024 season due to personal commitments but was re-acquired by RCB in the latest mega auction.
During a practice session at Eden Gardens on March 20, Kohli and Hazlewood were seen engaged in an intriguing conversation. The Australian pacer demonstrated back-foot movements and played mock shots while Kohli, bat in hand, attentively listened.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will commence their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign against the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on March 22, 2025. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM IST at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Virat Kohli and Josh Hazlewood poised for key roles in RCB’s IPL 2025 campaign
RCB had a disastrous start last season, losing seven of their first eight games and sitting at the bottom of the points table. However, they staged a remarkable comeback, winning six consecutive matches to secure a dramatic playoff spot.
Virat Kohli, who finished as both RCB’s and the league’s highest run-scorer last season, will once again be expected to play a pivotal role in the batting lineup. Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood, who has taken 23 wickets in 15 matches for RCB in his previous stint, will be crucial in both the powerplay and death overs.
The 34-year-old is recovering from a calf injury, and it remains to be seen whether the RCB management will include him in the playing XI right away or gradually ease him into the tournament.
