IPL 2025: Ishan Kishan and Mohammed Shami's Injuries Raise Concerns Despite SRH's Win Over RR

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) started their IPL 2025 campaign with a bang, securing a commanding 44-run victory over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The match was filled with explosive batting, high drama, and a couple of injury scares.

Ishan Kishan, making his debut for SRH, played a breathtaking knock, scoring an unbeaten 106 off just 45 balls. His innings included 11 boundaries and six massive sixes. Kishan’s partnership with Travis Head set the tone for SRH’s mammoth total.

Explosive Batting Display by Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad capitalized on the powerplay, scoring an impressive 94/1 in the first six overs to lay a strong foundation. Travis Head played a vital role, smashing a quickfire 67 off just 31 balls to give SRH a flying start. Meanwhile, Jofra Archer had a tough day on the field, conceding 76 runs in his four overs—setting an unwanted record for the most expensive spell in IPL history.

Rajasthan Royals’ Strong Fightback

Despite facing a challenging target, Rajasthan Royals put up a spirited fight led by Sanju Samson, who showcased his leadership with a quick fifty. Dhruv Jurel’s aggressive batting kept them in contention, but crucial wickets at key moments disrupted their momentum, ultimately preventing them from building sustained partnerships.

Ishan Kishan and Shami Injury Scare

In the 18th over, while attempting to stop a boundary, Ishan Kishan dived and jammed his knee into the ground. He was seen in visible pain and had to receive medical attention. Heinrich Klaasen took over wicketkeeping duties for SRH. His availability for the next match remains uncertain.

Mohammed Shami suffered a finger injury while attempting a catch off Pat Cummins’ bowling in the 12th over. He had to walk off the field, leaving SRH short of a key bowling option.

This win boosts SRH’s morale and solidifies their reputation as one of the most aggressive batting units in the league. RR will need to focus on their bowling attack and middle-order stability to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
