KKR CEO Venky Mysore's Viral Clap Response to Nitish Rana's Dismissal Breaks the Internet

Nitish Rana has been a key part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) setup for a long time. In the 2023 season, he even led the team. However, ahead of the 2025 IPL season, KKR decided to part ways with the left-handed batter. His first match against KKR while representing Rajasthan Royals (RR) was eagerly anticipated, but things did not go as planned for the seasoned cricketer.

Nitish Rana’s Emotional Farewell

After spending seven IPL seasons with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and even leading the team in 2023 during Shreyas Iyer’s absence, Nitish Rana was released by the franchise ahead of the mega auction last November. The decision left Rana and his family deeply affected. In response, his wife, Saachi Marwah, shared a pointed message on social media, subtly criticizing KKR by stating, “Loyalty is very expensive; not everyone can afford it.” Soon after, Rana took to Instagram, posting a picture of himself in a pink shirt with the caption, “Royal-ty is pink!”—a possible nod to his new journey, symbolizing his move to Rajasthan Royals.

Nitish Rana’s Struggles Against KKR

Cricket fans were keenly looking forward to Rana’s performance against his former franchise. But unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse for the southpaw. The left-hander managed to score only eight runs before Moeen Ali produced an absolute beauty to dismiss him. On the last ball of the 11th over, Rana made room early and attempted to play a defensive shot. Moeen, seeing this movement, cleverly adjusted his length, making the ball turn away just enough to beat Rana’s bat and crash into the stumps.

KKR CEO’s Witty Smile

As Rana walked back to the dugout, disappointment was written all over his face. Meanwhile, KKR CEO Venky Mysore had a satisfied smile and clapped, as if approving the decision to release the player before the season. The dismissal only reinforced the franchise’s belief that they made the right call.

Kolkata Knight Riders Dominate With the Ball

KKR bowlers displayed brilliant teamwork and tactical execution. The entire bowling unit contributed to reducing Rajasthan Royals to a below-par total of 151/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Star Performers with the Ball

Varun Chakravarthy and Moeen Ali made excellent use of the sticky pitch conditions, delivering standout performances with figures of 2/17 and 2/23 from their respective 4 overs. Vaibhav Arora also impressed with his clever pace variations, finishing with 2/33 from 4 overs. Additionally, Harshit Rana picked up two crucial wickets, further bolstering the bowling effort and keeping the opposition under pressure.

Key RR Batting Contributions

Rajasthan Royals’ innings was highlighted by Dhruv Jurel, who top-scored with 33 off 28 balls, followed by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 29 off 24 and stand-in skipper Riyan Parag’s quickfire 25 off 15. Despite these promising starts, none of the batters managed to convert their efforts into a substantial score, resulting in regular wickets and a modest total.
