The man of the match of the 2nd Test against West Indies at Old Trafford, Ben Stokes has made a jump in the ICC rankings. The England vice-captain has replaced the West Indies skipper Jason Holder as the top-ranked all-rounder in the last ICC Rankings in all-rounder for Test.

Subsequently, Stokes also made a huge jump in the ICC Test batting rankings following century and a fifty in the second Test. Ben Stokes secured the third place replacing Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne.

Stokes leads in ICC Rankings

Holder was ahead of Stokes by 54 points prior to the 2nd Test, but all thanks to Stokes’s knock of 176 & 78 he’s now trailing by 38 points in the rankings. Stokes ended Holder’s 18-month streak as the No.1 all-rounder. It had been 14 years since an England player featured number 1 in the all-rounders ranking. English all-rounder Andrew Flintoff was the last who featured in 2006.

In the Test batting rankings, Ben Stokes is now level with Marnus Labuschagne with 827 points. He’s just below Steve Smith and Virat Kohli and right above Kane Williamson and Babar Azam. On the other hand, Joe Root is placed 9th & Dob Sibley has jumped 29 places to attain a career-best 35th rank.

Further talking about the bowling rankings, Stuart Broad has made his way back in the top 10. James Anderson placed 11th and Chris Woakes has jumped few places to achieve the 21st rank. In the West Indies setup, Shamrah Brooks has jumped 27 places to achieve a career-best 45th position. Also, Holder dropped a place in the test bowling rankings as Newzealand’s Neil Wagner takes the 2nd place. Whereas Roston Chase moved up from 33rd place to 31st in the test bowling rankings.

 

England’s victory over West Indies at Old Trafford has now placed them at 3rd place in the World Test Championship table with 186 points. Six points ahead of New Zealand & 110 points behind Australia who’re placed 2nd.
