Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Suryakumar Yadav showed up for the post-match presentation holding an umbrella as rain fell following his team’s commanding 59-run win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2025 on Wednesday, May 21.

Suryakumar was named Player of the Match for his performance in the high-stakes virtual knockout held at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Rain was predicted to disrupt the crucial game, but fortunately, the weather stayed clear long enough for a full 20-over match to take place.

Suryakumar Yadav played a brilliant knock for Mumbai Indians (MI), scoring an unbeaten half-century. The right-hander smashed four sixes and seven fours, finishing with 73 runs off just 43 balls. His impressive innings powered MI to a total of 180/5 in their 20 overs.

Naman Dhir provided a quick-fire finish with an unbeaten 24 from only eight deliveries. In reply, Delhi Capitals were bowled out for 121, with Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner taking three wickets apiece for the hosts.

“It’s been 13 games now. My wife told me a sweet story today. She said, ‘You’ve got all the awards except Man of the Match’. This award is really special today. From the team’s point of view, this knock was important, and also, this trophy is for her.”
