India pacer Mohammed Siraj was seen cheering from the stands, urging Shubman Gill to perform his trademark bow celebration after the latter brought up a record-breaking double century on Day 2 of the second Test against England. Gill, who had already impressed on Day 1, continued his dominant form to anchor India’s first innings.
Taking full advantage of the favourable batting conditions, the Indian captain reached his career-best score, eventually converting it into a memorable double ton. He shared a massive sixth-wicket stand with Ravindra Jadeja, helping the visitors comfortably cross the 400-run mark after starting the day at 310/5.
Shubman Gill remained on 199 for a brief period but quickly reached the landmark in the 122nd over. He celebrated the moment passionately, kneeling down and pumping his fist, while the Edgbaston crowd and his teammates in the dressing room rose to applaud the milestone.
Mohammed Siraj copied the bow celebration from the stands, and the captain did the same on the field. You can watch the video here:

Gill Nears 250 As India Cross 500-Run Mark In 2nd Test Against England
The right-handed batter surpassed the record for the highest individual score by an Indian in England, overtaking Sunil Gavaskar’s legendary fourth-innings knock at The Oval during the 1978-79 tour. Currently unbeaten on 245, the Indian skipper is receiving solid support from his Gujarat Titans teammate Washington Sundar, who is holding firm at the other end.
After reaching his milestone, Gill shifted gears and began attacking, playing with freedom and confidence, targeting bowlers like Harry Brook and Shoaib Bashir. Meanwhile, England’s pacers appear worn out, each having bowled nearly 25 overs. At the time of reporting, India are in a commanding position at 530/6 in the 133rd over.
