Team India’s senior batter Rohit Sharma entertained viewers with his amusing reactions to Kuldeep Yadav’s repeated LBW appeals during the third and final ODI against South Africa in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, December 6. The opener was seen smiling and gesturing as if telling Kuldeep to stop appealing.

When Lungi Ngidi was struck on the pad while attempting a defensive shot, Kuldeep urged captain KL Rahul to consider taking a review, but Rohit humorously signaled Rahul not to go for it. A similar moment followed on the last ball of the over, when both Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav briefly debated taking the review again. You can watch the video here:

Despite the light-hearted moments, Kuldeep Yadav delivered what could be a match-defining spell, finishing with figures of 10-1-41-4 to keep South Africa down to 270. In the 39th over, he removed well-set batters Dewald Brevis (29) and Marco Jansen (17), shifting the momentum firmly in India’s favour.

Prasidh Krishna also picked up four wickets as the Proteas were bowled out for 271. While Quinton de Kock scored a century, the rest of the batting unit failed to convert their starts into substantial scores.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal have provided India with a brisk opening stand while chasing 271. At the time of reporting, the former captain was nearing his fifty, and the hosts had reached 85/0 after 17 overs. Jaiswal will be keen to post a substantial score as well, having been dismissed cheaply in the first two ODIs.

With Shubman Gill expected to reclaim the opening slot upon his return, the young left-hander will be eager to make the most of this chance.
