Team India stalwart Virat Kohli’s Instagram account suddenly became inaccessible around midnight on Friday, January 30, leaving fans puzzled and concerned. The account, however, resurfaced on the popular social media platform a few hours later.

So far, the former India captain has not issued any official clarification regarding the incident. It is unclear whether the 37-year-old temporarily deactivated his account or if the outage was the result of a technical issue.

Interestingly, Kohli’s brother Vikas Kohli’s Instagram account also disappeared around the same time and, at the time of writing, remains unavailable.

Virat Kohli boasts more than 274 million followers on Instagram, making him the most followed cricketer and Asian on the platform. On the global stage, he currently ranks 16th among the most followed Instagram accounts.

Virat Kohli Returns To London After IND vs NZ 2026 ODI Series

Virat Kohli last featured in India’s recently concluded three-match home ODI series against New Zealand, where he continued his excellent form, scoring 240 runs at an impressive average of 80 across the series. His 93 off 91 in Vadodara helped India seal a four-wicket win in the series opener.

In the second match in Rajkot, Kohli managed just 23 off 29 deliveries as India suffered a seven-wicket loss. He bounced back in style during the series decider, notching his 54th ODI century with a 124-run effort off 108 balls.

Despite his heroics, India fell short by 41 runs, allowing New Zealand to claim their first-ever men’s bilateral series win on Indian soil. Looking ahead, Kohli will turn his attention to the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL), marking his 19th season with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

His current form will be crucial as RCB aim to defend their title, having won their maiden IPL trophy in 2025 with a six-run victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final. Kohli finished the 2025 season as the third-highest run-scorer, amassing 657 runs in 15 innings.
