Mark Chapman and Daryl Mitchell produced a moment of brilliance in the field to remove Alishan Sharafu during the New Zealand vs United Arab Emirates clash at the 2026 T20 World Cup in Chennai on Tuesday, February 10. Sharafu’s knock came to an end at 55 off 47 deliveries, an innings laced with five fours and two sixes.
The spectacular dismissal unfolded in the 15th over of the UAE’s innings. Mitchell Santner floated the ball wide outside off, prompting Sharafu to shuffle across and attempt a slog sweep. The shot appeared destined to clear the ropes, but Chapman timed his jump perfectly just inside the boundary, parrying the ball back into play as he lost his balance.
Showing great awareness, Chapman quickly relayed the ball to Daryl Mitchell, who safely completed the catch within the field of play. The wicket proved crucial as Santner ended the 107-run stand for the second wicket between Sharafu and UAE captain Muhammad Waseem.
