New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell was spotted sharing batting insights with India’s Shreyas Iyer following the fourth T20I between the two sides in Visakhapatnam on January 28. After attentively listening to Mitchell’s observations, Iyer moved closer to the experienced Kiwi to discuss details related to his batting stance and trigger movement.
On the field, Mitchell carried forward his strong white-ball form in India, remaining unbeaten on 39 off just 18 deliveries to guide New Zealand to an imposing 215/7 in their 20 overs. In reply, India were restricted to 165, suffering a 50-run defeat.
However, the hosts had already sealed the series with an unassailable 3-0 lead, and the loss merely reduced the margin to 3-1 with one match still to be played.
Here’s the video of Mitchell sharing batting tips with Iyer after the match:

Iyer stayed on the bench despite replacing the injured Tilak Varma and only featured briefly as a substitute fielder. He was again left out of the XI for the fourth T20I despite Ishan Kishan’s injury, with India opting for five specialist bowlers.
Daryl Mitchell And Shreyas Iyer Face Contrasting Fortunes
Daryl Mitchell and Shreyas Iyer produced contrasting batting returns in the three-match ODI series that preceded the ongoing T20Is. Mitchell dominated the contest with scores of 50 or more in all three matches, including two centuries, playing a key role in New Zealand’s memorable 2-1 series victory.
He ended the series as the leading run-scorer, amassing 352 runs at a staggering average of 176 and a strike rate exceeding 110. In contrast, Iyer, who was making a comeback after an injury sustained in Australia last year, struggled to rediscover his rhythm against New Zealand.
The right-hander managed just 60 runs across the three ODIs, averaging 20 with a strike rate of 81.08. While Iyer is not part of India’s original squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, Mitchell is expected to be a key figure in New Zealand’s campaign as they chase their maiden T20 World Cup crown.
