India batter Sarfaraz Khan has described his move to Chennai Super Kings as a dream fulfilled, especially because it gives him the chance to play under MS Dhoni. Speaking after joining the franchise ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026, Sarfaraz admitted that sharing the dressing room with Dhoni has always been a personal aspiration.
“Dream was to play with the legend MS Dhoni,” Sarfaraz said, adding that he feels fortunate to now be part of a team known for its calm environment and winning culture. After going unsold initially at the auction, Sarfaraz was later picked up by CSK, a moment he termed as special and emotionally rewarding.
Revival Through Runs, Discipline and Self-Belief
Sarfaraz also reflected on his journey back to form, crediting consistent performances in domestic cricket for restoring his confidence. He recently crossed the landmark of 5,000 first-class runs and registered another double century in the Ranji Trophy, reinforcing his reputation as one of India’s most reliable red-ball batters.
Acknowledging the ups and downs of his career, he said, “I try to stay in the present and not think too much about the future.” Sarfaraz admitted that the phase following his Test appearances was mentally challenging, but intense training and focus helped him regain rhythm. He also spoke about the demanding fitness routines at the National Cricket Academy, describing the process as lonely yet essential for growth at the highest level.
White-Ball Ambitions and Family Support
Looking ahead, Sarfaraz made it clear that he wants to establish himself as a white-ball cricketer for India. He revealed that he has been working extensively on his power-hitting skills to adapt to modern limited-overs demands.
“I am focusing a lot on my power game,” he noted, underlining his determination to become more versatile. Sarfaraz also mentioned training closely with his younger brother Musheer Khan, helping each other improve across disciplines.
Having already shared dressing rooms with players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma earlier in his career, Sarfaraz Khan believes the opportunity to now learn from Dhoni will be invaluable. He expressed hope that the CSK environment will help him grow not just as a cricketer, but as a calmer and more mature professional.
