Ishan Kishan was dismissed in unlucky fashion during India’s T20 World Cup 2026 match against the Netherlands at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, February 18. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 18 runs off seven balls, including a six and two fours, before being bowled.

The wicket fell in the fifth over of India’s innings. Aryan Dutt delivered a short-of-a-length ball on the leg side. Kishan attempted to guide it over backward square leg but missed, and the ball struck his thigh pad and elbow before hitting the stumps. The left-hander had no chance to stop it as he completely lost track of the delivery.

India’s Openers Sharma And Kishan Fall Early Against Netherlands In T20 World Cup 2026

A brilliant bowling performance by Aryan Dutt gave the Netherlands a strong start against India in the T20 World Cup 2026. Besides dismissing Ishan Kishan, the off-spinner also got Abhishek Sharma out for a duck. At the time, India were 56/2 after seven overs, with Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav at the crease.

India captain Suryakumar Yadav opted to bat after winning the toss. Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav were rested, making way for Washington Sundar and Arshdeep Singh in the playing XI. The defending champions began their campaign with a 29-run win over the USA, followed by a dominant 93-run victory over Namibia.

In their last game, India thrashed Pakistan by 61 runs to secure a spot in the Super 8, where they will next face South Africa in Ahmedabad on Sunday, February 22. The Netherlands, led by Scott Edwards, have already been eliminated from Super 8 contention.

After winning just one of their three games, they will aim to finish the tournament on a positive note by challenging the two-time T20 World Cup champions.
