England secured a hard-fought 27-run victory over India in the high-scoring third and final One Day International at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. With this result, the host team clinched the three-match series by a 2-1 margin.
After winning the toss, England opted to bat first on a favourable pitch and set a commanding total that ultimately proved just beyond the reach of the visiting Indian side. Batting first, England produced an outstanding offensive display to reach a formidable total of 387 runs for the loss of three wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
Opener Ben Duckett led the attack with a magnificent knock of 141 runs off 135 balls, including 18 boundary fours and one six. He received excellent support from his opening partner Jacob Bethell, who scored a fluent 91 runs off 93 balls during a dominant 192-run opening partnership.
In the closing overs, Joe Root added a swift 74 runs not out off 48 balls, while captain Jos Buttler provided an explosive finish with an unbeaten 41 runs off just 13 deliveries. For India, pace bowler Prasidh Krishna was the primary wicket-taker, taking two wickets for 69 runs in his ten overs.

Rohit Sharma’s Brilliant Century Goes in Vain as India Finish on 360/7 in Lord’s ODI
In response, India mounted a valiant run chase, finishing on 360 runs for seven wickets in their 50 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma anchored the innings with a brilliant century, scoring 138 runs off 110 balls, laced with 17 fours and five sixes.
Shubman Gill contributed 77 runs off 84 balls in a solid opening stand of 147 runs, while Virat Kohli added a rapid 74 runs off 60 balls to keep India in contention. However, the fall of middle-order wickets slowed the required scoring rate.
England’s bowling attack maintained composure during the final phase of the match. Left-arm bowler Sam Curran was the standout performer with the ball, taking four wickets for 75 runs in his ten overs, while Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, and Jacob Bethell claimed one wicket each.
England’s disciplined execution in the final overs secured the victory and sealed a memorable series triumph.
