[WATCH]- Virat Kohli Welcomed With Loud Cheers at Lord’s During India’s Chase

India star Virat Kohli received a loud applause from the Lord’s crowd as he came out to bat in the third ODI against England. Chasing a daunting target of 388 in the series decider, India were given a strong start by Rohit Sharma and captain Shubman Gill, who added 147 runs for the opening wicket.

Gill was dismissed for 77 off the second ball of the 25th over, bringing Kohli to the crease. As the former India captain walked out, the spectators welcomed him with loud cheers and applause, with several fans rising to their feet.

Before taking strike, Kohli exchanged a few words with Rohit Sharma and the two shared a fist bump. He then settled at the crease and took guard. Watch the video here:

With India still facing a daunting chase, Virat Kohli showed positive intent from the moment he arrived at the crease. He took on the England bowlers early, striking three boundaries in quick succession.

After Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill’s impressive opening stand, India will hope the experienced pair of Rohit and Kohli can build another big partnership to keep the chase on track.

Virat Kohli Eyes Another Big Knock in Series Decider

Virat Kohli has enjoyed an impressive run of form in ODIs in recent times. Although he was dismissed for a duck in the series opener, he responded with a fluent 65 off 66 balls in the second ODI, striking eight fours at a strike rate of 98.48.

Before the third ODI against England, Kohli had registered seven 50-plus scores, including three centuries, in his previous 10 ODI innings. His scores during that period were 0, 74*, 135, 102, 65*, 93, 23, 124, 5, and 65.

With the series on the line, India will be hoping he delivers another match-winning performance in the challenging run chase. Kohli also boasts an excellent ODI record in England, having scored 1,443 runs in 36 matches at an average of 51.53, including one century and 13 half-centuries.
