Pakistan legend Waqar Younis has blasted England captain Eoin Morgan of losing the first Semi-finals to unpredictable Pakistan in Champions Trophy 2017 played at Cardiff yesterday.

Before yesterday’s match England came into the match as the only team not losing any match in the group stages defeating Bangladesh, New Zealand and Australia.

Pakistan has entered as the number 8th ranked team in the Champions Trophy 2017 and they have shown great improvement after their loss to Pakistan during the first match against arch-rivals India. After that the unpredictable Pakistan defeated South Africa, Sri Lanka to reach the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, Pakistan restricted the hosts England to just 211 in 49.5 overs with Hasan Ali the pick of bowlers taking 3/35 in 10 overs while chasing Fakhar Zaman and Azhar Ali provided a solid foundation of 118 runs for the opening partnership to give Pakistan a 8 wicket win.

On the other hand England had to adjust from a good batting pitch at Edgbaston to a slow pitch at Cardiff. It was a used pitch and Pakistan outplayed England.

“They outplayed us today on this wicket. I don”t think we were simply used to it. We did prepare like we were going to play on a used wicket,” said the England captain Eoin Morgan.

“Pakistan bowled well but we didn”t manage to adjust with the bat. Two hundred isn”t a competitive score.”

It was a resounding victory for Pakistan who dominated the hosts. They lost Mohammad Aamir for this match due to an injury but his replacement Raees did an excellent job to take 2 wickets. All the Pakistani bowlers performed well above their expectations and made sure that they reached their maiden Champions Trophy finals.

This match shows that no team cant be taken for lightly in this prestigious tournament. The top contenders of this tournament Australia, New Zealand, South Africa who were contenders did not qualify for the Semi-finals.

India takes on Bangladesh in the second semi-finals at Edgaston. They are favourites to win this match but the Men in Blue needs to play positive cricket and face Pakistan in the finals of CT 2017 on 18th June at Oval, London.
