Suresh Raina To Represent The Deccan Gladiators In The Abu Dhabi T10 League – Reports

Suresh Raina, a retired Indian all-rounder, has stepped away from all cricketing events, including the IPL, opening the door for international T20 leagues. Following his announcement, speculations about his participation in global tournaments have surfaced.

Currently, the 35-year-old is part of Sachin Tendulkar’s India Legends team in the Legends League Cricket’s second season. Recent reports indicate his potential involvement in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.

Images circulating on social media indicate that Suresh Raina is set to play for the Deccan Gladiators in the Abu Dhabi T10 League held in the United Arab Emirates.

Suresh Raina hopes to extend his cricketing career for an additional two to three years

While there hasn’t been an official confirmation, a Dainik Jagran journalist echoed the same claim on social media.

Prominent players who have previously participated in the Abu Dhabi T10 League include Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, S. Badrinath, Reetinder Singh Sodhi, Munaf Patel, Yusuf Pathan, and Praveen Kumar.

Following his retirement from international cricket, Raina purportedly requested a No Objection Certificate from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association and the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

“I wish to play cricket for around two to three years more. A lot of good players are there in the Uttar Pradesh domestic team now and doing really well. I have obtained NOC from UPCA as well,” Raina was quoted in Dainik Jagran’s report.

It’s important to note that an Indian cricketer currently involved in domestic competitions must retire to participate in international leagues and explore such avenues. Dubbed as “Mr. IPL,” Raina faced challenges in securing a contract at the 2022 IPL auction as he transitioned to a commentary role with CSK.

Raina boasts a cricketing career comprising 18 Tests, 226 ODIs, and 78 T20 internationals. He notably contributed to India’s 2011 World Cup triumph.
