In the aftermath of what has been a poor IPL season for Chennai Super Kings, dark clouds have been hovering around skipper MS Dhoni future. Many pundits and fans are of the opinion that Dhoni should step aside from his role after retiring from international cricket. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has finally opened up on Dhoni’s future with the three-time IPL champions.
The 39-year-old, who came back to competitive cricket after a gap of more than a year, looked completely out of socks. His feet didn’t seem to move and Dhoni has also lost his supreme hand-eye coordination. Moreover, his fitness has also taken a toll.
Will MS Dhoni lead CSK in 2021?
This summed up Chennai Super Kings performance in IPL 2020. They lost eight out of their 12 games and became the first team to bow out of the competition. On the personal front, MS Dhoni had the worst season in 13 years managing only 199 runs from 12 outings with the highest score of 47 runs.

This has certainly riffed speculations that this might be MS Dhoni’s last season in the IPL. However, despite Dhoni’s poor run in UAE, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan is confident that the former will lead CSK in 2021.
“Yes, definitely. I am very confident that Dhoni will lead CSK in 2021. He has won three titles for us in the IPL. This is the first year we have not qualified for the playoffs. No other team has done that. One bad year does not mean we will have to change everything,” Viswanathan told The Times of India.
Meanwhile, apart from the likes of Faf du Plessis and Sam Curran, the entire Chennai Super Kings team has failed to live up to the expectations. MS Dhoni has already hinted massive changes in the squad and they will be eyeing a lot of young cricketers ahead of the next season.
