Rohit Sharma has not been included in any of the Indian squads announced for their tour down under next month. The Indian opener suffered a hamstring injury in his left leg. It has kept him out from all MI matches since their Super Over loss against KXIP on October 18. Mumbai Indians stand-in skipper Kieron Pollard has said that the physios in the team are monitoring his progress. Meanwhile, former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has called for transparency about Rohit Sharma’s injury. Gavaskar spoke about the same while talking to Star Sports.

“I don’t know, I’m not on any of these public media but I was shown something about him practicing at the nets for Mumbai Indians. So I don’t know what kind of injury it is. Because if the injury was serious he wouldn’t even be padded up. And I think a little bit of transparency, a little bit of openness about what actually is the problem with him will help everybody. Because the Indian cricket fan deserves to know more than anything else” said the former Indian skipper.

He further said that from a franchise point of view it is understood that they do not want to leak too much information about him. But there should be clarity as per the Indian cricket team is concerned, he said.
“The franchises I understand, they don’t want to give their hand away because they’re trying to win the game, they don’t want to give the opposition any psychological advantage but we’re talking about an Indian team” Gavaskar further added.

The BCCI has also issued a statement along with the announcement of the squads. “The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor the progress of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma” it read.
