The Sunrisers Hyderabad make a powerful statement today and enter IPL 2020 playoffs. In a do or die encounter David Warner’s team crushed Mumbai Indians aside and won their third consecutive match.

In the chase, the opening duo of David Warner and Wriddhiman Shaha smashed the MI bowlers to all corners of the Sharjah cricket ground. The pair looked hungry to continue their rich vein of form and take their side past the finishing line.

Skipper Warner notched up yet another half-century in IPL and also crossed 500 runs this season. On the other hand underrated Saha once again played a flawless knock and justified his place as an opener.

The SRH openers remained unbeaten till the end as SRH wrapped up the match by 10 wickets. Warner contributed 85 runs from 58 deliveries whereas Saha scored 58 of 45 balls in what turned out to be a dream match for SRH.

It was a day to forget for MI as none of their bowlers could pick even a single wicket. In the absence of Bumrah and Boult, their other bowlers failed to impress and they lost the final league match of IPL 2020.

In the first half of the match, SRH bowlers once again performed under pressure and restricted MI to a below-par total. Sandeep Sharma with the new ball stood out again as he picked 3 crucial wickets. Shahbaz Nadeem was adjudged the man of the man for his brilliant 4-19 in his 4 overs.

A late onslaught from Kieron Pollard provide MI with some respectability and they ended up with 149 for 8. Pollard smashed 41 in just 25 and showcased his brilliant power hitting in the final overs.

SRH Franchise Is Like A Family – David Warner

The defending champs didn’t field their best 11 and tested their bench strength. The return of Rohit Sharma in the match was the only positive for them as they now gear up to play the qualifier 1 against Delhi Capitals.

Meanwhile, Sunrises Hyderabad will now face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator at Abu Dhabi on Friday. After SRH’S victory KKR is knocked out of the competition and finish 5th in the table.

Here’s what the winning skipper David Warner said after SRH qualified for the IPL 2020 playoffs.

“It feels good now after that dreadful loss against KXIP. They rested a few players but to hold them to 150 on this ground was great. A lot of credit goes to the bowlers, Nadeem was superb. We were trying to be as clinical with the bat then, and it feels good. We try and put our best foot forward, and that stems from the franchise owners. They are great people and it is like a family. We have a never say die attitude and that is how we approach each game”.

“We had a couple of injuries but they are here in spirit and we are doing it for them. Kane missed out due to injury last year and Jonny took his place and was absolutely fantastic. But that happens in franchise cricket, we can play only four overseas players. We looked at 2016, we were in the same situation where we had to win every game to win the title”, said David Warner.
