A hamstring injury saw Rohit Sharma miss the last four games for Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL season. Subsequently, he was not included in the squads travelling to Australia for a full-length tour. Meanwhile, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has broken his silence on Rohit’s absence from the tour saying that he wants him available in Australia in what is going to be a tough series.

Meanwhile, MI play SRH today in the last league game of IPL 2020. Three teams, including Mumbai, have already qualified for the playoffs. Either of KKR or Sunrisers will be the fourth team to go through depending on today’s result.

Sourav Ganguly Opines on Rohit Sharma’s Availability for Australia Tour

Speaking to Hindustan Times, the BCCI boss opened up on the current situation of Rohit Sharma’s injury and the possibilities of him playing in Australia. Sourav Ganguly also opined on Ishant Sharma’s availability as well.

“We are monitoring Ishant and Rohit. Ishant is not completely out. He will become a part of the Test series. With Rohit, we want him fit for Australia. At some stage, if he is fit, I am sure the selectors will rethink his position,” Sourav Ganguly was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

KL Rahul was appointed as the vice-captain of the ODI and T20I squads in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Rahul tops the run-getters list this season with 670 runs from 14 games at an average of 55.83.

However, KXIP made an exit from the tournament after losing their last league game against CSK. They finished eighth on the points table in yet another season.

Meanwhile, Rohit was seen warming up before their game against SRH on Tuesday. Rohit has already missed the last four matches and would like to contribute for a winning cause against SRH. Couple of changes are expected in the Mumbai line-up, given that they would like to try out some new faces in the last league game.

A win for SRH would take them to the playoffs, while Sunrisers’ loss will pave the way for KKR to get into the last 4.
