Delhi Capitals lost to Mumbai Indians in the first qualifier by 57 runs in Dubai on Thursday. This has just made their road to the finals tougher as they will have to play the second qualifier against either of SRH or RCB, depending on the result of the eliminator. Delhi were completely outplayed in the contest by Mumbai Indians who made their sixth IPL final. Judging from their performance in the first qualifier, it will be very difficult for the opponent team to get past the defending champions in the final. Meanwhile, the franchise trolled themselves after their defeat against Mumbai Indians.

“Me to the guy updating the wickets column,” DC posted on Twitter in response to a Trump tweet which read: “STOP THE COUNT!”

Mumbai Indians posted 200 batting first courtesy fifty from Ishan Kishan and a quick-fire 37 off `14 balls from Hardik Pandya. They added 60 off the last four as Mumbai Indians scored 90-odd off the last seven overs.

Delhi Capitals had a torrid start to their chase, They were o for 3 inside the first eight balls of their chase. Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan were all out for ducks in trying to track down 200.

Delhi Capitals Register Unwanted Records in Qualifier 1 Defeat

Delhi made a few unwanted records en-route to getting to that target. They became the first team to have a scorecard reading 0 for 3. Also then became the first team in the IPL where all of their top three were dismissed for ducks.

“I think we were on top when we got two quick wickets, and they were 102-4. We could have capitalised more at that time, and gotten two more wickets — maybe we could’ve chased around 170, but it’s part and parcel of the game. Every night can’t be yours,” said Iyer.

“We keep talking about the opportunities that we get and it’s important to have a good mindset. It’s not easy to be in the bubble and follow the same routine, but the practice we have done over the last few days, I’m really happy with the boys and their preparations” Iyer further said keeping an eye on the second qualifier on Sunday.
