The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that the next IPL season will take place in India. This year due to the COVID-19 pandemic that league had to be shifted to the United Arab Emirates. The BCCI did a commendable job by conducting a full-fledged IPL in UAE during testing times.

After a successful IPL season this year, it was assumed that BCCI might again choose UAE as the host for the next IPL season. Not only IPL it was understood that the cricket board is also speculating playing the India and England series in UAE due to the COVID-19 scare in India.

We Will Have IPL 2021 Season In India- Sourav Ganguly

Recently Ganguly himself brushed aside all the rumours and affirmed that IPL 2021 will take place in India. As usual, the next season of the cash-rich league is expected to be played between April and May in India. Ganguly also added that India and England series, as well as all the domestic matches, will be played in India in a bio-secure bubble.

“Yeah, absolutely. April, May we’ll have another one [IPL 2021 season]. No, no it’s not true [the speculations of IPL 2021 in UAE]. The UAE was only for the IPL. Yeah, yeah. We will host England in India. We will host domestic cricket in India. Ranji Trophy, we will create a bio bubble and we will do it”, Ganguly told in India Today’s Inspiration.

“We’ll be fine. We’ll be fine. ISL starting in November in Goa, we’ll be fine. The scare, that is not there anymore and the IPL has helped a lot”, The BCCI president further added.

Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly also spoke about the ongoing IPL season which is being conducted in a bio-secure bubble protecting all the players from coronavirus. He stated that he was unsure about IPL 2020 as there was never a bio-bubble created in the past.

However, the board got confidence after England conducted three series in a bubble. Initially, the BCCI was extremely worried but Sourav Ganguly is happy that the season has gone smoothly and not many players have got infected.

“We did not know whether we would complete this tournament because there was never a bio-bubble created in the past. We took a lot of understanding from the way England hosted the series in England. But this had far more risk because that was bilateral and here it was about 300 people in Dubai”.

“All in one place, although the Covid numbers in the UAE were much lesser still you needed one player or one person from the group to get infected. It happened at the start with CSK. It was a bit of a scare for all of us whether this will go through. I spoke to Jay multiple times and he was also worried. We have done it but if something goes wrong, what will happen? But luckily, it has been good so far”, Ganguly concluded.
