India’s senior-most quick bowler Ishant Sharma underwent a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore today. He underwent a fitness test as he prepares himself for the four-match test series against Australia later this year. The pacer who hails from Delhi wasn’t included in the initial squad as he sustained an injury during the recently concluded IPL where he played just one game for the Delhi Capitals before getting ruled out.

According to reports Ishant had sustained a left inside angled muscle tear which finished his mission rashly in the IPL. The injury in like manner language is side strain and Ishant has been at the NCA doing his broad recovery work under the attentive sight of Director Rahul Dravid and head physio Ashish Kaushik.

Ishant Sharma Undergoes Fitness Test At NCA

On Wednesday, ESPNCricinfo on their Twitter handle posted a video of the pacer undergoing a fitness test as he seen mainly bowling from his full run-up as Rahul Dravid and Sunil Joshi watched him bowl. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly in an ongoing meeting to PTI had said that they are anticipating Ishant to get fit before the first test in Adelaide.

“Yes, we are expecting Ishant to be back for the Test matches. He has already started bowling from shorter run-ups and short spells. He has bowled at NCA. “But as there is a BCCI protocol for fast bowlers, Ishant will be playing the two first-class games in Australia,” Ganguly had said.

If Ishant Sharma ends up playing the first Test at Adelaide which will also be Virat Kohli’s only test in this series then he will be the only second fast bowler after Kapil Dev to play 100 tests. Moreover, he is also short of just three wickets to reach the ever gold milestone of 300 wickets.
