Kiran More Chalks Out Workload Management Plan For Mohammed Shami And Jasprit Bumrah

The India tour of Australia is a long and hectic tour for the Indian players especially for the players featuring in all three formats of the game which is why with respect to workload management, Former India wicket-keeper Kiran More has come up with a plan to manage the workload of the Indian pacers.

Which is why India have gone in with as many as six pacers in the test squad as there is always injury concern that comes into play with the fast bowlers. Right-arm seamers Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah are apparently India’s most vital resources as they were just remarkable the last time India won the Test series in Australia.

With Ishant Sharma not featuring in the first two tests, a lot of responsibility lands on the shoulders of Shami and Bumrah, which is why managing their workload becomes crucial

‘Preserve Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami For The Test Series’ – Kiran More

Former India wicket-keeper and selector Kiran More has a concern regarding Jasprit Bumrah as he’s going to play all three formats against Australia. He implied more on resting Shami and Bumrah for the limited-overs leg so the sublime pace bowling duo is fresh for the test matches.

“The only thing I am worried about is Bumrah. He is going to play One-dayers, T20s, and Test matches. I think I will look at resting Bumrah, and also Shami. Preserve more for Test cricket. I will prefer to give rest to them in some of the matches, depending on the situation in the series, it doesn’t matter if I lose also,” Kiran More said.

He further added how the management could look to rest Shami and Bumrah after playing two games in the limited-overs and could again give them a go after resting them for a couple of games. This way the management can manage the heavy workload of the pace bowlers.

“Go with one guy in one T20 with two young fast bowlers, even in One-day cricket. I will not go with both of them, need to rest one of them all the time. Play two matches, give rest, then play two matches,” Kiran More told Times of India,’ he added.
