Australian opener Will Pucovski survived an injury on his head from Indian pacer Kartik Tyagi in the warm-up match at the Drummoyne Oval in Sydney on Day 5 of the match. The right-hander was hit on the helmet. His protective gear fell off and the youngster stayed on the ground for a few minutes before he was forced to retired hurt. This has also put his participation in the first test in doubt.
Will Pucovski adds to the long list of injured players in the Australian camp. Aaron Finch injured his glute while diving to field a ball late in India’s innings in the first T20I, in a similar manner to how David Warner sustained his injury in the second ODI and was soon sidelined.
He adds to the list of injuries the Aussies have already suffered in this series. Ashton Agar (calf), David Warner (groin) and Pat Cummins (rested) have all been ruled out of the T20 series while allrounder Marcus Stoinis is nursing a side injury while Mitchell Starc (soreness) missed the third ODI last week.

Pucovski was batting on 23 when he survived the injury. Kartik Tyagi bowled a steep bouncer in the 13th over which hit his helmet hard and went towards the third man area of the field. The Indian players quickly addressed to hs well being after he was hit hard on the top of the helmet. He lied on the ground for a while, before the medical assessed his condition and adviced him to walk off the ground.

“He was also attended by Dettol Medical Team doctor John Orchard and other medical staff before he was able to walk, unaided from the field where he will undergo further tests on his condition. The game was formally called off several overs later with Australia A 1-52 having been set a notional target of 131 off 15 overs, but the result was overshadowed by concerns for the Victorian’s health,” a statement on cricket.au.com said.
The warm-up game ended in a draw after Wriddhiman Saha played scored a defiant and unbeaten 54 thereby holding one end up. He scored a duck in the first innings. All of India’s Test specialists got a hit out in the game.
