Comeback Man S Sreesanth Reveals Reasons Behind His Jersey No. 369

S Sreesanth has made a comeback to competitive cricket after seven long years after his ban by BCCI came to an end last year. He is currently seen in action in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and is sporting jersey No. 369. The veteran fast bowler has finally revealed the reason behind his unique jersey number.

Meanwhile, the speedster has blown hot and cold ever since his return. S Sreesanth showed glimpses of his past when he bowled a beautiful out-swinger to pick his first wicket on return against Puducherry but was soon brought to reality in the next game against Mumbai. He conceded 47 runs in his four overs with Yashasvi Jaiswal coming hard at the 37-year-old cricketer.

Along with his antics on the field, one thing that caught everyone’s eyes was his unusual jersey number. The World Cup-winner is playing with a jersey number of 369 instead of his regular jersey number 36 in the ongoing tournament. And in a recent interview with ETV Bharat, S Sreesanth revealed the reason behind it and stated that it was because of his daughter’s birth date, he decided to add the extra number.

“This time I will be wearing jersey number 369 instead of 36. 9 because my daughter Srisanvika was born on May 9. Srisanvika means Lakshmi. Everyone knows my wife is called at home ‘Nayan’. So it sounds like 9. This is the reason I have decided to wear jersey number 369,” said S Sreesanth.

Speaking further, Sreesanth has set his eyes on the 2023 ICC World Cup scheduled to take place in India. However, currently, he is looking to make an impressive comeback in the first-class cricket for Kerala and wants to win the Ranji Trophy and Irani Trophy for his state side.

“Everyone wants to play for the country. It is a different feeling. I want to return with long hair and better fitness. My goal is to start with first-class cricket, and it is going to start very soon, maybe in September or October. All I want is to help Kerala to win the Ranji Trophy and the Irani Trophy. If I get to play for India again in that way, then that would be great,” said S Sreesanth.
