The Tamil Nadu skipper is currently leading his state team in the Vijay Hazare trophy and will join the commentary box after his commitments with his stateside. The league stage matches of the List A tournament end on March 1, with Tamil Nadu playing their last fixture on February 28. The second round of matches will start on March 7, with the final on March 14. Should Tamil Nadu qualify for the second round, Karthik might have a delayed entry into the commentary box.
Meanwhile, the upcoming IPL season is a chance for Dinesh Karthik to make a comeback to the national side for the upcoming T20 World Cup at home. The side is still looking for an experienced finisher and Karthik fits the bill perfectly. A good IPL season will better his chances of an international comeback. KKR had a pretty good IPL 2021 player auction having bought the likes of Harbhajan Singh, Shakib Al Hasan and Ben Cutting. While the veteran off-spinner will add to India’s spin-attack, Shakib and Cutting are seen as potential backups for Sunil Narine and Andre Russell.
