Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has breached COVID-19 protocols as per reports in Cricket PakistanPakistan Cricket team are scheduled to play two away tours of South Africa and Zimbabwe for which the board has announced the sides. Following the tour of South Africa, Pakistan will travel to neighboring Zimbabwe for two Tests and three T20Is. Pakistan recently played a Test series against South Africa which they won. It was a part of the World Test Championship. 

Babar Azam had gone to the Pakistan High Commission for his first COVID test ahead of the series. As per reports in Cricket Pakistan, Babar met the Director-General and straight away went to his car despite being approached by the media. The cricketer is said to have left the location in a hurry to avoid any confrontation with media personnel.

Babar Azam Breaches COVID Protocols

The Pakistan skipper also had a fall out with the selectors after which he had the backing of former Pakistan captains, Shahid Afridi and Inzamam-Ul-Haq. 

“Babar Azam will lead the team in the middle and will be responsible for the team’s performances. Hence, his suggestions should hold more value during squad selection,” Afridi told Cricket Pakistan.

Pakistan’s tour of South Africa will begin on April 02, with the two teams scheduled to lock horns in a 3-match ODI series. After the completion of the ODI series, Pakistan and South Africa will lock horns in 3 T20Is. Pakistan will visit Zimbabwe for two Tests and three T20Is after the series against South Africa. 

Pakistan have recalled a few veterans to the ODI and T20I squads. The all-round duo of Mohammad Hafeez and Shadab Khan have returned to the T20I squad. Sharjeel Khan, who last played for Pakistan in 2016, also returns to the side. The veteran duo of Wahab Riaz and Imad Wasim has been dropped for the one-dayers, apart from Abid Ali, Haris Sohail, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Muhammad Musa, Rohail Nazir and Zafar Gohar. Key spinner Yasir Shah has been left out of Pakistan’s Test squad against Zimbabwe. The legspinner is out with a knee injury
