On the back of an emphatic Test series win against England, Team India will lock horns with New Zealand in the ICC World Test Championship final. The much-awaited clash will roll out from June 18 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. The match was shifted from the historic Lords to Southampton considering the coronavirus pandemic and the cricketers will remain in a bio-bubble.
Considering that India have no red-ball assignments before the World Test Championship, the management is planning to take a jumbo squad to England. The cricketers are currently busy with the three-match ODI series against England which will be followed by the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League which will run from April 9 to May 30.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli & Co will not get to play any warm-up games leading to the pinnacle clash. As a result, Team India are contemplating taking a bigger squad to arrange practice games within the players of the squad. Also, it is expected that the large Indian contingent can travel to England just after the conclusion of IPL 2021 so that the players will have enough time to get accustomed to the weather and playing conditions.

However, things will be different for New Zealand as the Kiwis are slated to play two Test matches against England leading to the World Test Championship final. The matches will start from June 2-6 (at Lord’s) and June 10-14 (at Edgbaston).
The chairman of the Hampshire Cricket board Rod Bransgrove revealed that the Indian Cricket Team will travel with a jumbo squad for the final of the World Test Champhionship. He also added that both teams will remain in the same hotel, however, on different floors.
 “As far as I know there are no practice games organized. I understand that they (India) are bringing in a lot of players to the hotel and they will be organizing their own practice games. Both teams will stay at the same hotel, albeit on different floors. We have 170 rooms in that hotel and accommodating the two teams is not a problem,” he said to Cricbuzz.
