Indian women’s T20I skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has tested COVID-19 positive and has been sent home to stay in isolation. After a number of retired stars including Sachin Tendulkar, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan and S Badrinath tested positive for Covid-19, current Indian women’s team batter Harmanpreet Kaur has also reportedly caught the virus. Kaur is said to have developed mild symptoms that saw the health department conduct a Covid-19 test. After finding out that she was positive, the hard-hitting batter was isolated in her Patiala home.

Harmanpreet Kaur last took the field on March 17 against South Africa. Since then she was said to have developed mild symptoms of fever. Since confirmed positive, she has been in isolation at home.

“She is self-isolating at home. She got tested yesterday and the report came positive today morning. She had mild fever since four days so thought it was best to get tested. She is doing fine otherwise and should recover soon,” a source close to the player told news agency PTI.

“Unfortunately, I have tested positive for COVID-19. I am feeling ok and have quarantined myself by following all the guidelines advised by the authorities and my doctors,” Harmanpreet wrote on Twitter.

Harmanpreet Kaur Tests COVID-19 Positive

The Indian T20I skipper missed the recently concluded T20I series due to a hip-flexor injury. She sustained the injury in the fifth ODI against South Africa. In her absence, Smriti Mandhana had led the team. South Arica women played five T20Is and three T20Is recently against Indian women. They beat the Indian eves 4-1 in the ODIs and 2-1 in the T20Is.

It was not a welcome return for the Indian women cricket team back to international cricket post the COVID-19 break. They lost in both formats against the Protean women team. Indian women’s team are currently ranked fourth in the ODIs and third in the T20Is.
