Controversial Bangladesh author Taslima Nasreen has come under the scanner for her distasteful comment on England all-rounder Moeen Ali days ahead of the start of IPL 2021. Nasreen’s comments came after several reports suggested that the England cricketer has urged the CSK management to remove the logo of an alcohol brand from the team’s jersey.
The Bangladeshi author called out Moeen for his religious belief which is now one of the most debated topics in the country. Taslima Nasrin is of the opinion that Moeen Ali would have joined ISIS – a terrorist organisation if he was not stuck with cricket. Her tweet has come after multiple reports suggested that Moeen requested the Chennai Super Kings franchise to part ways with a logo of the alcohol brand from his jersey for the IPL 2021 season.
“If Moeen Ali were not stuck with cricket, Â he would have gone to Syria to join ISIS,” Taslima Nasreen said in her tweet.
Taslima Nasreen bashed on Twitter on remarks on Moeen Ali
However, Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Vishwanathan had confirmed that there has been no such request made by the English all-rounder. Soon after the tweet, Taslima Nasreen received a good bashing from the fans and Moeen Ali’s England teammates which include Jofra Archer, Ben Duckett, Sam Billings.
Twitter reactions:

Disgraceful. And the follow up to trying to justify this tweet as sarcastic is outright stupid. Surely there are better ways to make a point than to attack a decent man on the basis of his religion. You should be ashamed @taslimanasreen https://t.co/s8N2xhpNZG

Shame on you @taslimanasreen. You will be remembered as a garden variety bigot not a writer, certainly not a rationalist or feminist. https://t.co/tjjeheBmdJ

If Moeen Ali were not stuck with cricket, he would've spared more time for "Orphans in Need" as its global ambassador- British charity that supports, improves & empowers lives of orphans & widows in 14 countries. Anyway, 1 thing for sure- He wouldn't tweet Islamophobia for a visa pic.twitter.com/9Gtk6zCKvl

.@taslimanasreen was incharge of ISIS recruitment when Moeen Ali told her that he doesn't want to join them. https://t.co/CdlsneZlqt

A day after Taslima Nasreen was called out for her controversial remark about Moeen Ali, the Bangladeshi author took to Twitter and opened up about her ‘sarcastic’ post which has become the talk of the town on social media.
“Haters know very well that my Moeen Ali tweet was sarcastic. But they made that an issue to humiliate me because I try to secularize Muslim society & I oppose Islamic fanaticism. One of the greatest tragedies of humankind is pro-women leftists support anti-women Islamists,” Taslima said in her recent tweet on Tuesday.
