Cricket Australia have rubbished reports of their top players willing to return to Australia midway through the IPL 2021. The season started on April 9 and so far 21 matches have been played. Each franchise has played five games each with CSK topping the table at the moment. Previously reports in Australian media’s 9 news said that the likes of Steve Smith and David Warner are willing to return from the tournament midway.

the season was shaken to its core as several Australian players, including Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson and Andrew Tye, decided to leave the tournament mid-way. Not soon after their exit, Australian media reported that the likes of David Warner, Steve Smith, Ricky Ponting and other Aussie participants could also be on their way.

“The players are intending to remain until the end of the tournament unless something changes dramatically. The media reports citing otherwise are incorrect,” the CA source told news agency ANI.

On Tuesday morning, the Australian government enforced a ban on all passenger flights coming from India till May 15. With the IPL final set to take place on May 30, there’s a good possibility of the ban being lifted by the time Aussie players wrap up their duties in the T20 league.

Meanwhile, Warner’s SRH and Smith Delhi Capitals are placed on opposite ends o the IPL 2021 points table. Delhi is placed second on the points table while SRH is placed last. Delhi will play RCB in their sixth game of the season later tonight at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
