Rajasthan Royals notched up their third win of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad in match 28 of IPL 2021. This win takes RR to the fifth position in the points table with six points from their first seven games. Jos Buttler scored his first IPL century. It was his entertaining innings that set up the win for the Royals. More about the match report in detail below.
Sunrisers Hyderabad had a change in captaincy as they sacked David Warner and replaced him with Kane Williamson. However, chasing 221 to win, Williamson scored 20 off 21 deliveries. SRH needed Jonny Bairstow to bat through but he perished for 3. That started a slide in the SRH batting lineup as they lost wickets at regular intervals.
Mustafizur Rahman and Chris Morris took three wickets each as they broke the backbone of the SRH chase. Rahul Tewatia and Kartik Tyagi took a wicket each as Sunrisers finished on 165/8 and fell 55 short of the target.
Rajasthan Royals Notch Up 3rd Win, SRH Slide Further
The Rajasthan Royals batting effort was all about Jos Buttler. He scored his maiden IPL ton after scoring a few nineties in his career earlier. The win for the Royals was set up by Jos Buttler’s 124 off 64 balls and then was completed by their bowlers. Buttler’s knock included 11 four and eight sixes. He was also dropped during his knock by one of the SRH players.
Buttler added a 100-run stand with Buttler which set up the game for the Royals big time. Meanwhile, things are getting messy for Sunrisers Hyderabad after they dropped David Warner as captain and replaced him with Kane Williamson. Warner’s presence in the batting lineup was badly missed by the franchise in this particular game. This loss further slides the team with a lot of work left to be done in the second half of the season.
